***Important Disclaimers***If you are new to our K-Pop dance cover classes and dance company overall, please take the time to read our disclaimers and this FAQ page in full. Taking the time to read the information provided will really help you in your understanding of what we do, how everything works and what you may need to be aware of. It may be quicker for you to find your answer in our FAQ rather than contacting us and waiting for a response simply because we receive a large amount of queries through our website, email and Instagram direct message. However, after reading our FAQ page and Privacy Policy page in full, if you still have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via the form on this page and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as we can. If you do not hear back from us within a few days or so, please do not hesitate to follow-up. Thank you! LKDL <3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- K-POP DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY DISCLAIMER: IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL STUDENTS Please note that K-Pop dance is centred around learning K-Pop idols dance routines to their songs (a culture that they highly encourage!) and this has really developed an industry/business and K-Pop dance cover culture that has really grown worldwide. Our instructors have to prepare the classes well in advance and take the time to learn the K-Pop dance choreography themselves in order to teach to a class. Since this is not our choreography, we will do the best we can to teach the routine as closely as we can to the original choreography in the given time, so that students can "have a go", and practice at home to create their own K-Pop dance covers. We may (occasionally) at times simplify some small moves to suit the level in class. There are transitions and group formation changes in K-Pop which may be simplified since we are not in a group formation as a class, or, some moves may be "on the spot". BOOKING FYI Important: Please check our timetable page before you book ahead for studio classes. We communicate our timetable firstly to our Instagram page and "timetable story highlight" before we then update our website. All our information is provided for you across our channels. In the BASE Dance Studios app/timetable/website, our website and/or relevant Instagram is also provided for you. Therefore, checking the timetable ahead of booking any of our open classes is the responsibility of the Student/Parent/Guardian. We cannot be held responsible if you have neglected to check the timetable or format of the class in advance (this includes any online classes we host ourselves). > When we are planning a new song, our timetable will be updated at which point you may go ahead and book 7 days in advance. Please note: ALL bookings and payment for our open studio classes that take place at BASE Dance Studios are handled and managed by Base Dance Studios only/directly, and therefore LKDL does not have access to the booking system and cannot manage/process or see personal data/contact details. LKDL simply provides a teaching service for our regular open classes. Should you have any questions or concerns with your booking, please reach out to the dance studio directly: www.basedancestudios.com SOLD-OUT CLASSES You can check whether a studio class is sold-out/fully-booked simply by going directly to the BASE Studios App. If a class is sold-out/fully-booked then no more bookings can be taken due to health and safety reasons relating to maximum studio capacity. Classes can be booked only up to 7 days in advance. ARRIVING AT THE STUDIO Before travelling to the studio, please check BASE DANCE STUDIOS' website here for any updates surrounding their studio that you may need to be aware of before travelling to the studio. Please note: it is important that you report to reception on arrival and state what classes you are attending that day so that your name is ticked off on the register(s) and you are signed in. This is also for health and safety reasons. Failure to do so means that BASE reserve the right to interrupt the class to check you are in the class or to double-check status for any other reason. Please kindly co-operate with the studio staff who are simply doing their job to check all information is correct. Make sure you have your class booking confirmation/receipt to hand just in case. Last but not least, please adhere to BASE Dance Studios' policy surrounding Covid-19 safety guidelines and procedures. CANCELLATION OF BOOKINGS It is the student’s (or Parent/Guardian’s) responsibility to cancel their own booking well in advance (at least 12 hours in advance of when the class starts) in order to receive their money back to their BASE account. Failure to cancel well in advance means you do not, and cannot expect a refund as per BASE Dance Studios’ cancellation policy. We kindly ask that our students please be responsible for their own class booking. We cannot be held responsible for your booking. NOTICE FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS Explicit Lyrics: Before parents and/or guardians book a dance class for their child, it is crucial that you check our timetable page on our website (or Instagram)to find out what song is being taught. Some K-Pop songs (and non K-Pop for any "pop-up" choreography classes or "K-Choreography" classes) contain explicit lyrics. "Risqué" / suggestive or aggressive dance moves: dance is an artform and the nature of it means that there is a level of understanding and acceptance if you were to take a class. However, of course not every Parent or Guardian may feel comfortable with their child under the age of 18 years old learning and dancing to a routine with suggestive combos/moves which are not find age appropriate. In this case, we will always looks to teach and show an alternative dance move for any under 18 year olds (whose age) that we are aware of. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the dances, however, please be aware that: With K-Pop dance and also "K-Choreography", you can go to youtube to find the "dance practice video" (or class video for K-Choreo) so that you can watch the videos in advance and make your own informed decision. With any pop-up choreography classes which is entirely original and new choreography, like any other open dance class, it is completely up to you to decide whether you would like your child to attend knowing that there may be some risqué moves. You can go to the choreographer's Instagram page and make your own decision from there. In Summary **You will not be given a refund by BASE Dance Studios should you neglect to check the information provided and find yourself unhappy post-class that there were dance moves you didn't want your child to be dancing or that there were explicit lyrics in the music. ** DANCE CLASS VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET If you do not wish to be/do not wish your child to be in a dance video on the internet then that is no problem, but you must explicitly say at the time. All our students have a choice about whether they want to be in the video or not. Our students are encouraged to, for the fun experience but we do not force anyone to be in the videos. The class videos are just for fun and to help us remember the experience and build up our dance confidence within a real dance industry environment! That said, if you have not explicitly made it clear at the time of class that you do not want to be in the video/do not want your child to be in the dance class video, and/or should you be unhappy with your dancing (or any other reason) and wish for a class video to be taken down / deleted from our Instagram, Youtube, website or any other such channel, unfortunately we are likely to be unable to fulfil your request as this will be unfair on everyone else in the dance class video. We hope you understand. In all cases please reach out to us. CLASS GROUP VIDEOS Please also understand that in smaller group class videos, not everyone will have the chance to be filmed - simply because we may not have enough time to film everyone in smaller groups for the class videos. We may also publish our videos to our Instagram page at a later date in order to spread out our content. We may not post all of the class videos. Therefore we encourage you to film on your phones when we split the class into groups later on so you have your own reference video and memory of the class. PRIVACY POLICY AND DATA PROTECTION For more information about privacy, data protection and guidelines, please read our privacy policy. Thank you <3

If you are aged under 18 and wish to book class, please seek the consent of your parent or guardian. FYI - **BOOK “MULTIPLE” OPTION via the app: does not work and is not available indefinitely** We have been advised that although the option is visible in the app to “book multiple” classes, unfortunately this option does not work in the App .Therefore this functionality is not available to us. To book a class, you will have to book each class individually. (i.e. you can only book for yourself). Apologies for the inconvenience. CLASS COST: See our homepage for the class prices or go to the BASE App. Any one-off price changes will be indicated on our "timetable" website page. When we are planning a new song, our timetable will be updated at which point you may go ahead and book (7 days in advance of the class). How do I book multiple classes / for me and my friend? For our regular open weekly & monthly studio classes you can only pay via the BASE Dance Studios App or via their website: www.basedancestudios.com. All bookings and payments for our studio classes are handled between the Customer and BASE Dance Studios directly. The BASE Dance Studios App has a "book multiple classes" function which is not active so therefore you can only book for yourself. We have been advised that students have to "pay per class" - one payment transaction/booking for each individual class. Please remember you can only book classes 7 days in advance (an error message shows on the BASE App if you try to book more than 7 days in advance). If you would like to book for a friend as well as yourself (perhaps you are booking it as a surprise or a gift), we have been advised by BASE Dance Studios that you would need to log out of your existing account and create another BASE Dance Studios account with: Different email address. Different account name (perhaps use your middle name or a nickname). You can still use the same card to pay on both accounts. The "identities" between your original BASE Dance Studios account and the new one you are making to book for your friend should be entirely different as much as possible, otherwise the booking system will "red flag" your account and may think it is a mistake and you may have trouble signing in at reception. If the bookings on both separate accounts go through, when you report to reception on arrival on the day of the class you have booked, please state the names the bookings were made in, have the confirmation emails to hand and explain the method you used to book. They will take the time to go through the system and double-check everything for you. Hope this helps! <3

What is the studio class cancellation policy?Base Dance Studios handles and processes all class bookings and payments for our regular "open" dance studio classes. This means LKDL does not have access to the booking system or any payment/personal data. We understand that you may need to cancel a class you may have booked in advance, for whatever reason. Please be aware there is a cancellation policy for good reason, which protects the studio, the instructor and the interests of other students who are interested in joining the class. Please see below for Base Dance Studio’s cancellation policy:“BASE Dance Studios enforces a 12-hour cancellation policy for all customers who have booked a place for a class via the online platforms. If the customer wishes to cancel their booking at any period prior to 12 hours before the scheduled time of the class commencing, then a credit for the class amount booked, not including the online booking fee, will be credited to the the customers online profile upon the BASE application. The credit returned can only be used by the customer to purchase either the same class, or a class of the same price, at a subsequent time. A cash or bank transfer is not eligible. And the credit refunded cannot be used for a class of a different pricing. If the booking is cancelled less than 12 hours before the scheduled time that the class commences then the customer is not eligible for a credit refund, cash refund, or either a bank transfer to the customers personal account. Booked places cancelled within less than the 12 hour period will be charged the full rate for that class. We value your custom and will always do our best to accommodate your needs. New Client/Customers: To summarise the studio class cancellation policy at BASE DANCE STUDIOS: If you neglect to cancel your place in the class with less than 12 hours to go before the class starts, then you will be charged the class fee. If you cancel more than 12 hours in advance of when the class starts, your class credit will be refunded/returned to your Base Dance account in the app, minus any booking fees. From our side here at LKDL, we kindly ask that if you need to cancel your spot in the dance studio class, try to cancel as early as possible to free up your place to give someone else the opportunity to join the class. Hope this helps! <3

Is there a “Waitlist” for sold-out dance studio classes?Sold-Out Classes A “Sold-Out” class means we have reached full capacity and means that Base Dance Studios cannot accept any more students to join the class due to health and safety reasons. For example, a dance studio with a maximum capacity of 30 students means no more than 30 students will be accepted. There is no waitlist. Please simply keep checking the BASE DANCE STUDIOS' App to see if a place is available for you to book because someone may have cancelled their place in the studio class last minute. This is the only way to tell whether a place has become available in the class. If you have any questions please reach out to Base Dance Studio directly by email: admin@basedancestudios.com Hope this helps! <3

Is there an age limit for anyone who wants to attend the studio class? No, it is a dance studio so all ages are welcome. However, anyone under the age of 18 will have to seek permission from their Parent/Guardian in order to pay for class (card payment online). Please note that most of the students who attend our classes are adults (college, university, full-time workers). It is worth considering this before you permit your child to attend. Students and parents/guardians should also note that the dance routines are filmed towards the end of our studio class and are posted on our channels e.g. Instagram/Youtube channel/our website. We recommend that parents and/or guardians check and assess our social media (Instagram, our website videos, Youtube) for themselves to determine whether they are happy for their child to attend that class. *** DISCLAIMER*** Explicit Lyrics: before parents and/or guardians book a dance class for their child, it is crucial that you check our timetable page on website to find out what song is being taught. Some K-Pop songs (and non K-Pop for artist dance covers, K-Choreo classes or any "pop-up" choreography classes) contain explicit lyrics. "Risqué" / suggestive or aggressive dance moves: dance is an artform and the nature of it means that there is a level of understanding and acceptance if you were to take a class. However, we understand Parents and Guardians may not feel comfortable for their child under the age of 18 years old to learn non-age appropriate dance routines. We always try to teach and show alternative dance moves for anyone who we are aware is under 18 years old. Unfortunately there is not much else we can do about the dances, however, please be aware that: We publish the songs we will be teaching to on our timetable page . You can find all videos associated with that song (music video, stage performances and dance practice videos) on YouTube. You can watch the videos in advance and make your own informed decision. With Choreography classes, which is entirely original and new choreography, like any other open dance class, it is completely up to you to decide whether you would like your child to attend knowing that there may be some risqué moves. You can check out the choreographer's profile through our Instagram page. In summary: it is the Parent/Guardian's responsibility to assess and make their own informed decision on behalf of their child, based on the information provided in our timetable. **You will not be given a refund should you neglect to check the information provided and find yourself unhappy post-class that there were dance moves you didn't want your child to be dancing or that there were explicit lyrics.** DANCE CLASS VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET If you do not wish to be/do not wish your child to be in a dance video on the internet then that is fine, but you must explicitly say at the time. We hope you understand. In all cases, please get in touch with us. Hope this helps! <3

I will be late to class. Will I lose my place?BASE Dance Studio has a lateness policy: If you are more than 15 minutes late to class, for health and safety reasons they have the right to refuse your place. It is important that you try to arrive on time and BASE encourage you to arrive 15 minutes early. We understand there may be valid reasons why you may be late to class, but please note that we cannot be held accountable or responsible if you are late to class and you will not be given a refund by BASE Dance Studios. Hope this helps answer this question.

Are the class bookings transferable?BASE Dance Studio handles all bookings. If you have any problems with your booking, you will need to reach out to the dance studio directly. Please be advised that Base Dance Studio do a head count to ensure that the class has the correct number of people etc and if they have any questions about missing payment, or attendees, they have the right to pause the class in order to double check. Get in touch with Base Dance Studio if you have any issues with your booking. Hope this helps! <3

What are the classes like?Warm-up: The classes always start with a warm-up before teaching the dance. After that there is a lot of learning, broken down into sections. Groups: The class may be split into groups later on so that everyone has a bit more space to dance when they practice. Class video(s): Towards the end of class (the last 10 minutes or so), there is a focus on taking our "class video" which may be posted on Instagram within 72 hours and/or our other social media channels. You are encouraged to be in the videos but it is also absolutely fine if you don't want to yet! The whole class may be filmed and then at least one group will be filmed ( a bit like our own dance cover!). Towards the end of class when we split into groups, you are also welcome to record a video of yourself dancing (recorded on your phone) - just politely ask someone in the other group to film for you, and kindly do the same for them. You're also encouraged to ask lots of questions and there will always be opportunities to do so. It's your class so make sure you make the most of it, relax and have fun! Hope this helps! <3

Can you reserve me a place in class?Unfortunately we cannot reserve you a place in class regardless of any of the following reasons: "I am having payment issues, can you reserve me a place?" "I am having mobile issues with the App / my BASE account, can you reserve me a place?" "I would like to attend, not sure if I will but I am worried the class will be fully booked, can you reserve me a place?" This list is not exhaustive. All bookings are the responsibility of the Customer/Student and all bookings are managed by the Customer/Student directly with BASE Dance Studios. To book your place in the class, you must make payment first through the BASE App. BASE Dance Studios operates a fair booking system. If you have any trouble with payment, your BASE Dance Studios account or App, please ensure you call and/or email BASE Dance Studios directly. Unfortunately we are unable to help you with this. We do not manage the bookings since we focus on teaching our classes. Hope this helps to clear this up. Thank you <3

I've never danced before. Can I still join your classes?Yes, if you want to learn then of course you can! In fact, a lot of people may tell you that K-Pop dance is a great way to start dancing, especially since there are a lot of online resources (Youtube!) and the K-Pop idols themselves tend to post their dance practice videos showing the full choreography. It's interesting how a K-Pop dance class may give you a small glimpse into what they went through as trainees and nows as idols! Like all things, when you first start learning it definitely won't be easy (even if it's an "easy" choreography) and we only have a certain amount of time for the whole class to learn and practice the dance - BUT be patient with yourself, definitely don't be hard on yourself, and as time goes on, it will be very rewarding when you notice an improvement in your dancing - and the main thing anyway is that you just enjoy the routine and have fun! Top Tips are: Watch the practice videos a lot of times so you understand what is required, so that you can get used to the music rhythms/patterns and pace. And of course after each class, make sure you continue to practice at home because it's true what they say... practice makes perfect! The hardest part is motivating yourself to go to class and not understanding what to expect because it is so new to you, or being too scared, anxious or worried to go..... but once you are there, you will be fine, so please don't worry! Hope this helps! <3

Is there a class ettiquette I should be aware of?There are no "rules" as such, but like all things there are a few unspoken matters to be aware of just so everyone has a good experience: Make sure you report to the reception at Base, to check your name off (very important for health and safety reasons) and please state which classes you are attending that day. Please be aware of in advance, and adhere to BASE Dance Studio's Covid-19 Safety Guidelines Policy. *Please note that if you are more than 15 minutes late to class, BASE may not allow you to enter the class due to health and safety reasons.* Make use of all the studio space (be mindful as much as you can of personal space and social distancing to prevent injuries and to keep safe). For example, if you are in the front line then move forward closer to the mirror. There will be a warm-up but if you are running a bit late for class, make sure you do some stretches before you jump right into the lesson. Warming up is very important as it prepares the body for physical activity and helps to prevent injury. If you are very late for class and therefore miss some of the dance being taught, please be mindful that there may not be time to teach you what you have missed, but just jump in and do what you can! In addition, BASE has the right to refuse you entry to the class if you are very, very late and they will not be able to provide you with a refund. Please support each other in class :) For a lot of people, especially beginners, it can be quite scary dancing in front of other people, so the more we support (clap and cheer) each other, the better! Hope this helps! <3

How do I find out what dance/song is next? The best place to find out what dance/song is next is by going to "Timetable" in the main navigation menu of our website. Alternatively you can head to our Instagram account @lovekpopdancelondon and "turn on notifications" for story and posts in order to stay in the loop. We share news of our timetable updates on our Instagram story and save these to our "Timetable Story Highlight" on our Instagram profile so that our students can refer back to it. Hope this helps! <3
-
How do I make a song request? We tend to ask for song suggestions once a month through our Instagram story "suggestions box" only (which keeps the data collection organised), so please keep a look out for that. All suggestions will be reviewed and shortlisted with the most popular songs being prioritised. Otherwise, please feel free to send us a "direct message" to our Instagram and we will keep your suggestion under consideration. Hope this helps! <3

How does the song format work for class?Normally, each class will be a different song where we focus on learning the main section of the dance (for example: verse and chorus) . This gives us the opportunity to cover a lot of dances/songs and gives our students the opportunity to learn a lot of different dances in a month which will give a good and varied dance experience. For some songs yes, we may perhaps teach the dance to the whole song but we rarely do. If the dance to a whole song is taught then it will generally run over a 4 or 5 week period (see breakdown below). If the dance to a whole song IS being taught, we normally break it down into 3 or 4 easy-to-digest parts: Week 1: You will learn part 1 of the song (pre chorus)* Week 2: You will learn part 2 of the song (chorus and perhaps a bit more).* Week 3: You will learn part 3 of the song.* Week 4: You will learn part 4 of the song.* (- part 4 may be omitted if the dance can be learned in 3 parts) Week 5: "Round-up class" (in this class you will rehearse the whole dance!!!!).** FYI * When teaching a full song, each part is taught as "new" which means that everyone will be learning it with you for the first time too! So if your availability means you miss a part (for example if you have a work event, a birthday party to go to that day), please be reassured that it will not affect your experience for the next part that you learn as you are not expected to know the routine in advance. (** except for the "round-up" class which is a rehearsal). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hope this helps! <3
-
Can I have the class video? The dance will normally be filmed towards the end of class and the links to the class videos will be shared publicly to our Instagram story and saved (temporarily) to our "Class Videos" story highlight @lovekpopdancelondon. Towards the end of class however, when the class has been split into two groups, you are also welcome to film on your phone. Simply double check and ask the teacher if it is ok to film (because some people may not want to/or feel comfortable to be in a video on the internet), and kindly check to see if anyone is kindly willing to film for you (from the other group). Hope this helps! <3

Do you only teach dances to K-Pop music?Sometimes we teach Artist dance covers or other Korean choreographer's dances (K-Choreo). Other times we may hold our own "pop-up" choreography class (previously known as "K-Style Commercial" with our Instructors or Guest choreographers. Pop-up choreography classes are is intended to help you grow as a dancer and just to have fun. Any choreography classes offer an authentic industry dance class setting and are designed to inspire and motivate our students. These classes are "pop-up" so keep an eye on our timetable to see when they pop-up. Hope this helps! <3
